Overview:

The Agile Product Owner role at SoftWriters is responsible for defining and delivering a compelling product roadmap that offers high-value healthcare technology solutions for an underserved niche market. The successful candidate is passionate about building innovative products that drive impact, with a laser focus on rapidly changing customer needs and the market landscape. This person will be part of a high-performing and talented product management team, working closely with engineering, design, customer success, sales, and marketing. As one of the key leaders in product development, you will work with the Product Managers, where you will represent the voice of the customer and the vision of the products throughout the product development life cycle.

Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The objective is to bring greater value to the market

  • Participate as a working team member on a Scrum Team (s) ensuring that you are readily available to address questions from the team members; removing barriers in a timely manner and escalating blockers immediately to executive leadership for resolution

  • You are responsible for working with customers and key stakeholders from across the company to bring a voice and story to the customer feature requests, new product development, and technical features

  • Holding the ultimate accountability for the product strategy that best meets the needs of our customers and our business, you will bring your strong leadership and organizational skills to maintain a steady release plan for the product

  • Recognizing the limitations of resources and time you will be responsible for negotiating trade-offs at the appropriate interval during each development sprint

  • You will order and manage the backlog of user stories and product defects to ensure that the work defined for the team is meaningful to the customer, yet realistic and attainable for the development teams

  • An ability to advocate for and manage the value of the product line release at the executive level

  • Work with Product Managers, key technical team members, and other cross-functional groups to identify stories to be added to the backlog

  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of user stories and product defects based on business value at the product line level

  • Communicate and advocate the product line vision

  • Lead and communicate the release plan for the product

  • Engage with development to commit backlog items to sprint deliverables (negotiate on what gets put in each iteration)

  • Clearly make tradeoffs between sustaining items and new value in the marketplace

  • Work with development teams to address questions/concerns during the sprint

  • Work with Product Management to understand and validate customer needs

  • Work with the product manager to lead customer validation sessions

  • Identify opportunities across product lines and lead efforts with other POs to bring business value across multiple products

  • The objective is to bring greater value to the market

  • Work with Marketing and Product Managers to identify and communicate value propositions for features and functionality

  • Communicate and educate internal team members on how the product features and functions fit into the product portfolio

  • Advocate for features across shared teams

  • Make trade-off decisions in coordination with other product teams to support responsibilities across shared teams

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or other technology-related field

  • Five (5) or more years of software product management experience

  • Two (2) or more years of Agile-Scrum development experience, serving as a Product Owner or Scrum Master

  • Prior experience with both on-prem, hosted, and cloud-native applications (Microsoft Windows/web/mobile with databases and cloud infrastructure)

  • Prior experience directly working with customers to successfully deliver product features for enterprise software solutions and SaaS products

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to research, quickly understand and synthesize complex, often technical problems and then articulate them into simple and clearly understood requirements

  • Demonstrate proactive leadership

  • Ability to present complex ideas concisely

  • Experience decomposing customer and internal systems specifications into software requirement specifications or working software

  • Experience acting as technical liaison with end-user clients during the development process

  • Proven track record of building relationships and influencing important clients and internal stakeholders, setting and managing expectations, and creating consensus across diverse groups

  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work under pressure and deliver high-caliber products under tight deadlines

  • Exceptional interviewing, probing, and influencing skills

  • Flexibility to travel for onsite meetings with clients/partners, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or other technology-related field

  • Product Owner Scrum Certification (Scrum.org or Scrum Inc.); Scrum Master Certification

  • Excellent understanding of software design patterns and architecture paradigms

  • Experience in managing/creating web and mobile app (Android and iOS) products

  • Good understanding of web service architecture, web technology stacks

  • Knowledge of pharmacy management or similar healthcare technology solutions

  • Knowledge of Jira, Aha, and Azure DevOps helpful
