5 Workflow Considerations for Social Distancing
While we face the uncertainty of the current times, one thing is for certain – we still have patients to serve. SoftWriters is making it our priority to help customers navigate this new normal while introducing new ways to manage the demands of the pharmacy.
Here are 5 ideas to help your staff, facilities, and patients stay safe during these trying times.
The great news? Making these small adjustments can go a long way to helping with social distancing and being efficient, and all can be managed within FrameworkLTC:
1. Cycle Frequency
Have you considered changing your cycles from daily or weekly to monthly? Updating the pharmacy’s cycle delivery to once a month can help reduce the number of deliveries and visitors the facility receives each day.
2. Limited Deliveries
Some pharmacies have updated their delivery schedules to help limit driver and facility interactions. By reducing the number of deliveries made to the facility, you can support social distancing while still servicing and caring for the patients. You will still provide daily assistance, however, for everyone’s safety simply reduce the number of interactions. For instance, instead of making five deliveries each day consider scaling back the number of deliveries to two.
3. Reminders
FrameworkLTC can assist with internal pharmacy communication and memos. This may be helpful for remote staffing situations and can aid in keeping everyone informed. You can setup pop-up reminders for all staff or specific teams. The reminders can be for an individual drug order, patient, physician, or facility. Each pharmacy employee can acknowledge the reminder or note. A reminder may be useful to communicate an updated delivery schedule. For example, Happy Acres will only receive two deliveries a day.
4. Facility Custom Notes
You can also utilize Custom Notes to help communicate facility-specific information to your remote team. When logged into the facility within FrameworkLTC, FrameworkLTC will display the note within the bottom left-hand corner of the application.
5. Signature Capture with FrameworkPOD
When collecting signatures through an electronic device, you could limit device sharing by having the courier enter the name and title of the recipient within the required fields, then write “COVID-19” within the signature field when delivering the package. This could eliminate having to transfer the device between individuals and help aid in the recommended 6-feet spacing or distancing.
