Building Trust and Driving the Future: Final highlights from the Innovation Conference

In the final installment of our three-part series, host Todd Eury wraps up his live coverage from the 2025 FrameworkLTC Innovation Conference. This episode features more engaging conversations with LTC pharmacy attendees, partner exhibitors, and members of the SoftWriters team as they reflect on the event’s biggest moments and discuss what’s ahead for the long-term care pharmacy community.

If there was one theme that carried through every conversation at this year’s conference, it was collaboration—the idea that progress in LTC pharmacy doesn’t happen in isolation but through strong partnerships, shared innovation, and trust.

That belief was central to the conversation with John Cialone, Director of Strategic Partnerships at SoftWriters, who emphasized the company’s commitment to helping customers succeed by connecting them with the right solutions and partners.

“We can either spend years and years building the teams, building the expertise, and trying to get a version one of some of these tools to market... or we can go out, scour the market, find who's doing it best, figure out how we can bring them into our fold, and bring it to our customers,” John explained. “We’re not interested in being the only system our customers use. We’re interested in our customers being better than their competitors.”

For John, success for partners isn’t about exclusivity, it’s about empowerment.

“Our job is not to pick winners and losers. Our job is to make sure they can both work,” he said. “It’s a fun mix of industry veterans, industry titans, and just a never-ending onslaught of new and innovative upstarts.”

That open approach to partnership is part of what makes the Innovation Conference so impactful.

“At a conference like this, in two days, I feel like I get six months of work done,” John added. “I can ask every customer what vendor do you see here that seems interesting to you... it’s as invaluable a work experience as you can get.”

That same spirit of connection was echoed by Dustin Harbison, Director of Account Management at SoftWriters, who reflected on how his team uses the conference to deepen relationships and celebrate customer success.

“We engage with customers where they are, meeting them at that moment... How can we help? How can your pharmacy management provider, your partner, get you where you need to be and recognize what you need?”

For Dustin, hearing firsthand how customer feedback has shaped new features and improved workflows is “the best thing” about being at the conference. This serves as a reminder that innovation is driven by listening and collaboration.

Trust and transparency also emerged as defining themes throughout the event, particularly in the keynote message from David Horsager on the power of trust. As Scott Beatty, President and CEO of SoftWriters, reflected, trust isn’t just a leadership value—it’s a technological imperative.

“We see trust as the foundation for all of the work that we're doing around data and artificial intelligence,” Scott shared. “It's really exciting to be a technologist. It's also one that requires an intense amount of trust in the people who are building and deploying these tools.”

That vision for trusted innovation is embodied in FrameworkInsight, SoftWriters’ new business intelligence platform.

“We really felt architecting a solution that’s fully cloud-based, easy to utilize, and gives clear views into the operation from a data perspective would be of great use,” Scott said. “It’s built in a way that’s scalable for the future.”

Looking back on the week, Scott praised the level of engagement and collaboration that made this year’s event stand out:

“The engagement from our customers and partners was truly exceptional. This was an outstanding week.”

He added,

“This conference helps shape the work that we do. We regularly hear from our partners that this has become the premier show in long-term care. We’ve done the work to attract the right people—a room full of decision-makers and thought leaders in the industry. It’s an incredibly productive set of dialogues we have.”
