Pharmacy Podcast Network: The Current State of LTC Pharmacy

Long-term care pharmacies play a vital role in providing medication and other healthcare services to individuals who require extended or ongoing care, such as residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other healthcare settings. If you're interested in learning more about what's happening in the world of long-term care, we highly encourage you to listen to the latest episode from the Pharmacy Podcast Network about the current state of LTC pharmacies.

Talking with Alan Rosenbloom, CEO of SCPC

What's the current state of the long-term care pharmacy industry? Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition CEO Alan Rosenbloom returns to the #PBMReform Podcast to discuss LTC pharmacy's value to dual-eligibles, and how some simple policy changes would improve care for our senior population saving our payer systems millions of dollars, overall.

“The single most impactful thing that we have done to sensitize elected officials and their staff to the differences between long-term care pharmacies and other types of pharmacy, like retail and mail order, and the value that LTC pharmacies deliver and how complicated it is, is to get them into pharmacies,” Rosenbloom said.

Alan explains how LTC pharmacies are in an increasingly tough spot because of drug pricing policies. The patients they serve often rely on price-controlled meds that can leave them caring for patients at a loss in revenue.

In this episode, Rosenbloom also acknowledges the critical role pharmacy software like FrameworkLTC play in the industry at large.

“SoftWriters has been a tremendous supporter of SCPC and the sector in general,” Rosebloom noted. “They are among one of our largest supporters in the business community that interacts with long-term care pharmacies.”
